Help with getting a 7 year old to stop wetting bed?
Any ideas of getting a 7 year old to stop wetting the bed? He says he can’t wake up while sleeping. But he also says he’s afraid to get out of bed. We leave a night light on in his bedroom and also leave the bathroom light on for him. It’s to the point that i have him wear a pull up to bed because i was getting tired of smelling urine. We just bought him a new bed and had to put one of those plastics on the mattress. Any ideas greatly appreciated.
ok, this is still normal for him to do, bedwetting does not become a real problem till the teen years. i know, i am a 17 year old bedwetter. the doctors never found any thing wrong and say that i have a small bladder, and that one day it will catch up. untill then i wear diapers at night. get your son some goodnites pants and dont make it a big deal.
How do you get a child to stop wetting the bed at night?
I have 3 boys and now my 3rd is gonna be four and will not stop wetting… He is determined he is a big boy and wears underpants to bed. I wake him up twice a night plus limit fluids before bed. I never had the other two still wetting by this age.. I know every child is different but 4 is a bit old still to wet. Thanks!
First, don’t make such a big deal out of it, age 4, is still very young. Discuss this with his doctor,
Don’t compare him to his brother’s.He will think that something is wrong with him and we both know that he is perfectly normal.
I have a now adult child, that wet the bed until the age of 13 or
so. I did all of the things that you have done, restricted fluids after a certain hour, trips to the bathroom, before and during sleep, but, to no avail. They tend to sleep very soundly. So I just faced the fact that I would have to do what I could to make sure that my child did not go to school smelling like pee, so I doubled the plastic on the mattress and used chux’s on top of the sheets, and made sure that a morning shower was always taken.
I also found , that this type of thing runs in families. Boys tend to be more prone to this. So, take it a step at a time. He may stop tomorrow or he may stop later. Just let him know, from your actions and your words, that he is not a problem.
We have enough messed up kids out there these days.
Peace

How and When can I stop bed wetting?
Before you think this is just for amusement, understand this is for real. I have had this problem all through elementary AND h.s. and have seen specialist doctors. They even put some kind of scope inside and looked around and found no problem. But still it happens like 3-4 times a week. And now that I’m older (18) there’s alot more of it. My folks want me to go away to college but how can i do that? I certainly can’t wear diapers to bed!
my nephew and my great nephew has the same problem. my nephew still had the problem in his 30s but not as ofton and my great nephew has stopped now that he is in his teens. the only way they stopped was by not drinking anything after 10pm or not much anyway. and the problem is they are such deep sleepers. they don’t wake up when that feeling comes on. try maybe to take naps during the day if you can or get someone to wake you up. once you get in to a routine it should all into place good luck and don’t worry more people have this prob. than you realize.
How can I stop bed wetting?
I’ve been wetting the bed for 13 years. I am a really deep sleeper. I don’t normally wake up in the middle of the night unless it is a disturbance. I don’t know what to look for or I don’t even know how to wake up and go to the bathroom. Please help.
There’s normally a physiological reason behind bed wetting at that age. I would suggest seeing a professional and get things worked out in your head.
Why my 5 year old daughter cant stop bed wetting till now?
I am facing the problem of bed wetting by my daughter, is it a medical problem or any thing serious about her. she is doing it since her birth.
It’s NOT a medical problem, but it is very embarrassing, but there are ways to help your child.
Don’t get frustrated with her because it’ll only cause her to do it more. To stop her from bed wetting, you have to make her feel good about herself. Don’t punish her because it’ll make her feel ashamed and embarrassed. You can use a plastic sheet over the mattress to save time for cleaning up. And tell her that as a responsibility of wetting her bed, she needs to help clean it up. Also make sure that when she goes to bed, she’s relatively calm. Don’t try to make her go to bed when she’s excited and all because then she’s not concentrated on stopping herself when she wets the bed. And no drinks before bedtime. Another thing is to not lead your children to the bathroom at night. You have to teach them that they need to learn to take responsibility for their own body, so if they feel the urge, they need to go themselves. Make sure they get enough sleep, 8-10 hours, otherwise children may sleep so deeply trying to catch up on rest that they don’t feel the urge to go pee.
Anyways, it just takes patience and time, but these methods should work.
