The parent should wait patiently for some time when the child throws tantrum as he will definitely cool down after a while. The parents should acknowledge the child’s feelings. Also sometimes it is necessary to leave the child alone when the tantrums have gone out of control. When the child is left to himself he will calm down after a while. When he calms down, the parents should then explain to the toddler why his needs were not met in the first place. Reason with the toddler that it was done for the toddler’s own good. If the toddler understands then the job is done as he is unlikely to throw a tantrum about the same topic again. It should be made clear to the toddlers as to what behavior is acceptable from them or what behavior will not be acceptable or tolerated. Listen to them peacefully as to why they are throwing the tantrum and think of a solution. It is necessary to decide whether the tantrum thrown by the child is reasonable or not. If the tantrum is not found to be for a valid reason then the parent should make clear to the child that the tantrum is uncalled for.
